Aquatic AV 300 Watt 2 Channel Amp Amplifier AQ-AD300

We will be wrapping up our motorcycle amp reviews with the AQ-AD300 by the brand Aquatic. And if you ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle, it is almost a no-brainer as it is designed for those bikes.

VersaHaul Motorcycle Carrier

Very well made, I looked at several competitor carriers and opted to spend more for a higher quality carrier. Easy to assemble, well-illustrated instructions, nice powder coat finish, very well packaged, and came through with no damage from the freight carrier(s). The patented anti-rattle / rocking bracket works very well! I ordered the carrier w/o ramp as I already had a bike ramp that I just set on the crossbars used to fasten tie-down straps.

The one downside [really nothing against VersaHauler carriers] is that many of the HD pickup trucks now for sale come with 2.5″ and even 3″ receivers. My Super Duty has a 2.5″ receiver so I needed to make a 2″ to 2.5″ adapter to align with the 2″ drawbar tongue that the VersaHauler comes standard with. I tried to call VersaHauler to see if they offered a 2.5″ variant but no one answered the phone nor was I able to leave a message. VersaHauler, please consider offering units with 2.5″ or 3″ main bars.

Very pleased with this purchase! Makes transporting my CRF so much more convenient than dragging out my trailer or having to load the bike in the bed of the truck.

  • Carrying Capacity: 500 lbs.
  • Fits any class III or IV hitch
  • Powder coat finish
  • Reversible Rails
  • Anti-tilt lock bracket
  • 36 in. main tube
  • Four retractable tie-down bars
  • Two 6.375 in. x 71.5 in. carrier track
  • Two-wheel stop
  • Two reflectors

Things to Check Before Buying the Best Motorcycle Amplifiers

After going through our motorcycle amplifier reviews, you should already get a decent idea of which units are worth buying. However, before you commit to a specific product, there are some elements that you should always check. Without looking at these elements, you will not be able to make an informed decision.

That being said, here are a couple of things that you should check before going with a specific motorcycle amplifier.

1. Size

In most cases, size is the first thing you want to consider. Motorcycle amps can come in different sizes, and while most of them are compact, some of them can take up a lot of space.

If you do not have too much space to spare on your bike, it is better to go with a compact unit.

2. Installation and Mounting Hardware

The next thing you want to check is how easy or hard it is to install it. Most of the motorcycle amps on the market require you to use a mounting bracket. Typically, you get the mounting bracket included with your purchase.

Motorcycle Amps

If the installation of the amp takes too much hassle, then it might not be the best choice for you. For the best experience, go with a unit that makes installation as simple as possible.

3. Power and Loudness

The most obvious factor to check when you are buying a motorcycle amp is how loud it is. If the amp is not powerful enough to give you a good listening experience, there is no point in buying it in the first place.

Typically, the loudness of the amp depends on its maximum power, which is measured using watts RMS. The higher the value of the RMS, the greater the output volume in most cases.

4. Number of Outputs

You also want to think about the number of outputs or channels that come with the amplifier. This factor mostly depends on the preference of the user. Some people find two channels the perfect option, while some think that even a 6 channel motorcycle amp is not enough. So, you need to decide how many speakers you want to connect to your amp and decide accordingly.

5. Control Options

You also want to take a look at the different options that you get on the amp. Options like gain control, audio crossover, frequency control, etc., will help you tweak the audio signal and get the most out of your stereo system.

Motorcycle Amps

However, this again depends on the preference and competence of the user. If you do not know how to use those controls and would rather have a plug-and-play experience, then you can find amps with minimal features and straightforward design.

6. Weather-Resistance

Since you are buying a motorcycle amp, it needs to be weather-resistant if it is to survive all the abuse you will put it through. Without water resistance, for instance, the amp will get damaged anytime you are riding on your bike during rain.

7. Power Draw

The final element that you need to check is the power draw of the amp. Since most amps draw power from the motorcycle battery, if your unit is extremely power-hungry, this can be a problem. A motorcycle battery is not as powerful as car batteries and cannot support a heavy amplifier.

Benefits of Using a Motorcycle Amplifier

Using a motorcycle amplifier offers immense benefits. Here are a couple of advantages that you will get by investing in a motorcycle amp for your bike.

Benefits of Using a Motorcycle Amplifier

1. Listen to Your Favorite Podcasts

We all enjoy listening to podcasts every now and then, right? Well, if you have a motorcycle amplifier, you will not have to miss your favorite podcast when you are out on the road. Many units even come with a Bluetooth connectivity feature that you can use to stream the audio from your smartphone directly.

2. Amplified Sound Signal

With a decent motorcycle amp, any sound coming out of it will be fuller and cleared. A motorcycle amplifier filters the sound and removes any distortion. In addition, some units allow you to tweak the sound to your liking so that you have the best listening experience possible.

3. Upgrade over Stock Stereo

If you have a touring bike, your motorcycle should already come with a stock stereo system. While you may be inclined to skip over buying an aftermarket amp, the boost in performance you will get if you buy one is massive.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where To Install a Motorcycle Amplifier?

It depends. A motorcycle amplifier is typically a small and compact device and can fit in a lot of places. But the most popular choice in most cases is installing it on top of the stereo. However, to do that, you need to remove the windshield or the outer fairing of the motorcycle.

Some people even install the amplifier on the fairing if their bike has it.

2. Will mini amplifiers for motorcycles fit on a fairing?

Yes. If your motorcycle comes with a fairing, you should be able to fit a mini amplifier on it without too much trouble. However, you should check the user manual of the amplifier before you try installing it, as some manufacturers might recommend not installing it on a fairing.

3. Can I use a car audio amplifier on my motorcycle?

Yes, you can. However, we strongly recommend you avoid using a car audio amplifier on your motorcycle. The stereo amplifiers on a car draw a lot of power, and when you use them on your motorcycle, they can drain the battery pretty quickly.

After a while, your motorcycle will start to have dimmer lights or even engine failures in extreme cases. In addition, car amplifiers are also typically heavier and take up a bit more space. So, using them on a motorcycle is not a wise idea.

4. How much power do I need on the motorcycle amplifier?

It depends on the motorcycle amplifier that you are buying. Some models are power-hungry and can draw a lot of battery power from your motorcycle when in use.
However, there are a lot of efficient models out there that do not consume as much power and can serve well on a motorcycle.

If you have already gone through our motorcycle amp reviews, you will notice that in most cases, the higher the RMS power rating, the greater the power draw.

5. What is the difference between a 2 channel and 4 channel amplifiers?

The main difference between a two channel and a four-channel amplifier is the number of speakers you can attach to the amp. With a two-channel amplifier, you are limited to connecting only two speaker outs. However, if you invest in a four-channel amplifier, you can connect up to four speakers.

This also impacts the overall design of the amplifier to some extent. With more channels, the amplifier needs to have more RMS power. For example, while a 200 watts of power rating might be enough for a two-channel amp, a four-channel amp needs at least 400 Watts RMS.

6. Can I put a car stereo in a motorcycle?

The speakers on a car stereo are typically designed to deliver high-volume sound and this is not possible in the small space of a motorcycle. You can use an amplifier kit that has been specifically designed for motorcycles if you want.

Final Thoughts

Installing a motorcycle amp on your bike can be a great way to improve your listening experience. The combination of an amp and a decent stereo system in your bike will also improve your overall experience when you are going on a long ride. We hope our in-depth guide on the best motorcycle amps could help you find the perfect unit for your needs. Good luck!
