The dual tire RVs, also known as dually, are rapidly gaining popularity. Mostly because of their double tires in the rear. Things get easy when you have two—one less thing to worry about. If one is deflated, the other can carry on the necessary miles.

Its double tires may bring the benefits of extra reliability, but they have a downside too. Duallies are known for being very complicated when it comes to inflation.

Inflating high pressure RV tires will require a few pieces of equipment and tools.

One is an air compressor for inflating RV dual tires.

The other one is an air pressure gauge- it is an instrument to measure the air pressure that will help you determine if the tire has had enough inflation or not. One additional tool is a hubcap tool.

First Step: Check the air pressure

Over and under-inflating both are harmful to the tires, and that is why it is crucial to check if the tires are actually down with air or not.

Attach the pressure gauge to the tire valve, and the gauge will give you a picture of the situation.

The tires should be at 80 PSI, so if the air pressure comes out below that, it needs to be inflated.

Second step: Lose the HubCaps

The rear wheel’s valve is usually at an adverse place, where it is very hard to get hands on it.

So, it will be easier to do the job if you detach the hubcap. It’s not that tough; you just need to use the hubcap tool to pull out the cap. Be gentle; putting too much pressure can break or damage the hubcap.

Every tire’s valve has a stem cap on it, which protects the tire valve from dust, moisture, and any outer damage. Remove the stem cap from both the tires.

The next step is to attach the air hose and chuck to the valve stem, then press the lever of the compressor. The compressor excerpts clean air, and the air hose will convey it to the tire.

Now, fill the tire while checking the pressure and stop when it touches the necessary threshold.

After doing the front tire, put air in the rear dually tires and then replace the stem cap.

So, finally, you have inflated your RV tires- now you can attach the hubcap back to its place.

First, find the groove in the retention ring and put it in alignment with the slot of the hubcap. Then, align the valve step slot of the hubcap with the wheel and then hit on the corners of the hubcap gently to fix it in place.

In tire care & maintenance, the air pressure is just to be proper- not less, not more than it requires. Therefore, it is necessary to know what the ideal pressure is; actually, air pressure is expressed via PSI.

The term PSI actually stands for ‘Pounds per Square Inch.’ It is a standard unit to measure the air pressure on vehicle tires.

Lower pressure than the ideal will make the sidewalls of the tire flex more than usual, which will build up heat and then eventually blow up. This can be a very expensive risk and even dangerous.

On the other hand, if the air pressure is higher than ideal- it will increase the tire size, as tires are mostly made of rubbers and synthetic materials and are elastic. As a result, the center of the tire will finally break off.

However, in the case of a dually, one has to do a bit more chores just to reach the valve of the rear tire.

There are two ways of getting your hand on both the valve.

One, take the hubcap off to reach the valve of the rear wheel.

Another way is to install a crossfire dual tire pressure equalization system. This is a tool that is dedicatedly made for duallies. It can be mounted easily to the hubcap, and then it makes way to flow air freely from one tire to the other one. 

This cuts a lot of hassles for both checking and inflating the tires. This also allows the user to use any valve opening among them.

What To Do If You Overinflate Your Tires?

By any chance, if you have overinflated the tire and now you are being tensed about it- we’d say don’t worry. We’ve got the solution it needs.

Just take the step cap off and put on the pressure gauge on the valve of the tire. A button on the gauge releases air; press that and release all the extra air until you’ve reached your required PSI.
